About Alpine

A storm has knocked out the fiber-optic network on a lonely mountain, leaving its inhabitants without a connection. Alpine is a short 2D platformer-puzzle about fixing that: platform your way up to the top of the mountain, stretch cables between houses, and have a chat with the locals along the way. It was made in 72 hours by RenD (design, code, art, music, and sounds) for Ludum Dare 59, theme "Signal", with fonts by Chevy Ray and built in Unity, LDtk, and FMOD. The developer lists the known issues honestly: the 2D physics can be a bit wonky and you might get trapped inside walls or platforms when the framerate drops, and the WebGL build can have controller input delays or even losses. If you get stuck, a 100% no-hit walkthrough is linked on the page.

How to Play

Move and jump your way up the mountainside, and use the interact button to pull, connect, or cut cables and to pick or place connectors. Link the houses back into the fiber network, chat with the locals as you pass, and reach the peak.

Controls

WASD / Arrow keys – Move Z – Jump X – Interact (pull/connect/cut cables, pick/place a connector) Controller: LS/D-Pad – Move; A – Jump; X – Interact

Tips & Tricks

Click the game window first — that's what switches the audio on. Plan your cable routes before committing; pulling, connecting, and cutting are all part of the toolkit. If the framerate dips, be careful near walls and platforms — the physics can trap you.
