FOGBOUND is a fishing survival sim with a Lovecraftian streak. Jona, the last fisherman of Foghorn Harbor, sailed into the fog and never came back; Eda, the old lighthouse keeper, hands you his boat and teaches you the ways of this sea. By day the water is calm — islands drift out of the mist, ripples mark where fish are biting, and the lighthouse watches over the harbor. By night, fear creeps in: stay outside the light too long and the fog thickens, something starts whispering, and eyes open beneath the waves.
Fishing is timing-based: strike when the needle crosses the arc, then pack your catch into the hold — every species has its own shape, so the hold fills like a puzzle (it packs itself; you choose what to throw back). Eighteen species span the Shallows, the Open Sea, the Deep and, new in v0.8, the Trench — with aberrant variants worth three times as much. The sea map fills in as you chart the fog, and merchants pay more the more you have charted.
v0.8 also completes the story: a drowned village, a whale graveyard, the truth about Jona and a true ending at the Empty Belfry. Its headline mechanic is The Hunt — every aberrant you catch or sell leaves a scent, and let it build and something will come for you that no light or harbor can stop; you survive until it gives up. Around all that sit fourteen forgotten places, harbor trust requests, six upgradeable boat systems, a fishing guild that pays idle income for up to eight hours with the game closed, and a navigator you can hire to fish and sell on autopilot. English and Japanese; progress saves in your browser.
How to Play
Sail with click/hold or WASD; click a ripple to sail there and start fishing.
Hit click or Space the moment the needle crosses the arc to land the fish, then decide what to throw back — the hold packs itself like a puzzle.
Sell at the harbor, deliver requested fish to build trust, and invest in the fishing guild for income while the game is closed (up to 8 hours).
Upgrade your engine, hold, rod, lantern, trawl net and hull, and hire a navigator to automate fishing and selling.
At night, stay near the light — or accept The Hunt when your aberrant catches draw something in, and survive until it gives up.
Controls
Click / hold or WASD – sail
Click a ripple – sail there and start fishing
Click / Space – reel when the needle crosses the arc
E – dock at the harbor or investigate a place
M – open your sea chart
N – raise / lower the trawl net
Tips & Tricks
Chart aggressively early on — exploration literally raises the prices merchants pay.
Aberrants pay triple, but every one feeds The Hunt's scent meter; sell them when you are ready to run.
Upgrade the lantern and hull before pushing past the Deep after dark.
Concentrate guild investment: owning 15, 30, 60 or 100 of a building doubles its output.
