This is a prototype in the honest sense — a few screens, a mineral loadout and a lot of unspoken systems — but that is exactly why it is interesting: you get to peek at an early idea from the Magic Archery developer before it becomes anything. Low commitment, free, and worth twenty minutes if you like watching game designs take their first steps.
About Golem Quest
Golem Quest is a short RPG prototype from Barribob — the developer behind Magic Archery — built as a side experiment between other projects. The pitch is in the title: create an unstoppable golem.
The page's text is brief, but the screenshots show the shape of it: a pixel-art world where you pick quests in areas like Welcome Hills and Mystic Grove, manage a loadout of available and unlocked minerals, and grow your golem across stats like Physique, Finesse, Mind and Influence as it levels. The developer notes that if a sequel to Magic Archery ever happens, it might look something like this — so treat it as an early sketch of an idea rather than a finished game, and have fun with it.
How to Play
Pick a quest area, equip your golem with the minerals you have unlocked, and send it out — the four stat lines (Physique, Finesse, Mind, Influence) and the golem's level are your build. The prototype explains little in text, so experimenting with mineral loadouts between quests is the intended loop.
Controls
See the original itch.io page for the developer's control notes.
Tips & Tricks
Change Quest sits on the HUD, so hopping between areas to test different mineral builds is cheap.
Keep an eye on which minerals are still locked — expanding the loadout is how the golem grows.
