Why we're featuring Sun Smith

Incremental games usually dare you to stop; Sun Smith does the opposite and promises an ending, which makes it a rare idle you can actually finish. The derelict-awakening premise gives the numbers a purpose, and the painted space backdrops keep the mood dreamy. A standout pick for players who want their incremental sessions contained.

About Sun Smith

Sun Smith is a finite incremental game with a definite ending — no endless grind, no prestige wall. An ancient derelict drifts through a dark star system, silent and half-dead. You wake it up, and from there your job is to help the old machine repair itself, one system at a time. The loop is quiet and contemplative rather than frantic: nudge the derelict's restoration along, watch dead machinery flicker back to life, and push toward the story's actual conclusion. It's a solo-developed project built in Godot, and the whole thing plays free in your browser. The developer, a solo creator balancing the game with a day job, offers a Steam wishlist page as the way to support continued development.

How to Play

Awaken the derelict and start directing its self-repair. Progress comes from feeding the restoration loop and letting damaged systems come back online; because the game is finite, every step moves you toward the ending rather than an arbitrary score. The itch page keeps the specifics light — part of the experience is discovering what the derelict needs next.

Controls

See the original itch.io page for the developer's control notes.

Tips & Tricks

Progress is finite by design — there's nothing to over-optimize, so enjoy the pace instead of grinding past the ending. If it clicks for you, wishlisting on Steam is the developer's own suggested way to support the project.
