It is Go with gunpowder: Factory Go keeps the territorial soul of the classic and adds a detonation gimmick that makes every placement feel aggressive. The vent-blocking rule is easy to grasp but produces genuinely sharp attack-or-defend decisions, and the four ways to play — CPU, hot-seat, quickmatch, passphrase — cover both study and rivalry. A standout pick for board-game and strategy fans, and one of the few modern Go variants you can simply open in a browser.
About ファクトリ囲碁
Factory Go (ファクトリ囲碁) is a steampunk competitive board game that treats the stones of Go as factories. Place a factory, connect it to your network and expand your territory across the board — or crowd your opponent's plants until every exhaust vent around one of them is sealed and the whole thing goes up in a spectacular explosion.
There is a defensive line to the puzzle as well: connect your factories and secure two chimneys, and a plant evolves into a large factory that can no longer be exploded. Every turn asks the genre's classic question — attack the enemy or shore up your own position — and when the board fills up, the player who has built more factories wins.
Matches come in every flavor: a CPU opponent with four difficulty levels, local two-player on a single device, online random matchmaking, online play with a shared passphrase, and a game-record replay system for reviewing the whole match afterwards. The interface is in Japanese.
How to Play
Take turns placing factories on the board, Go-style. Surround an enemy factory so that all of its exhaust vents are blocked and it explodes off the board. Connect your own factories and secure two chimneys to evolve them into explosion-proof large factories. When the game ends, whoever has built more factories wins. Play against a four-level CPU, a friend on the same device, or online via random matchmaking or a passphrase room.
Controls
Click a board point to place your factory; point-and-click interface throughout. See the original itch.io page for the developer's control notes.
Tips & Tricks
Evolve early: a connected factory group with two chimneys is permanently safe from explosions.
Don't over-extend — a lone factory far from support is the easiest target to choke out.
Count vents before you attack: if even one exhaust port stays open, the siege fails.
Use the replay after a loss; like Go, the losing move is usually visible two turns before the explosion.
Start at CPU level 1 to internalize the vent rules before touching online matchmaking.
