Most browser arcades don't come with an argument; this one does, and it's sharp — the page openly frames the game as satire about outrage over broken windows versus the gravity behind a protest. The Convinci mechanic is the clever part, letting you defuse patrols instead of dodging them. The text is Italian, but the arcade action reads through any language barrier.
About Je suis Maranza
Je suis Maranza is a satirical pixel-art arcade game with a pointed premise: privilege has fragile glass. Nora and Maranza cross a city that grows richer and more surveilled by the act, from the working-class district to the halls of power — seven levels standing between them and the parade.
The Italian-language page is candid about the message: a broken shop window draws instant outrage, while the conditions that drive people to protest get ignored far longer. The game folds that asymmetry into its fiction — the richer the city gets, the harder it defends its objects.
Mechanically it's a stealth-arcade: find a path between patrols, dodge blows and reach the exit. Smashing objects earns points and refills your motivation, but every level can also be completed with everything intact. Motivation both protects you and fuels the Convinci move, which makes nearby agents stop and think for a few seconds. Nora and Maranza alternate between levels, and whichever one you're not playing can lend a hand. Three difficulties, touch controls and a browser save round it out.
How to Play
Find a path between patrols, dodge attacks and reach each level's exit. Breaking objects earns points and recharges motivation, but you can finish levels without breaking anything. Spend motivation to protect yourself, or use Convinci to make nearby agents pause for a few seconds and slip past — or free an arrested protester.
Controls
Move – WASD / arrow keys
Smash – J
Protect (hold) – K
Jump – Space
Convinci – L
Pause & menu – Esc
Mobile – touch controls, landscape orientation
