Why we're featuring Eldritch Apocalypse

Most deckbuilders reward patience; this one punishes it. Making the rewind costlier every loop is a clever pressure valve — you're always buying one more attempt with knowledge you might have spent better. If you like roguelikes with a timer and a tower worth defending, this is a sharp free browser pick.

About Eldritch Apocalypse

Eldritch Apocalypse is a real-time deckbuilder roguelike with a clock you can't ignore. You're channeling a ritual that will ascend you to godhood — but your hunger for power has awakened the Old Ones, and if you take too long, they'll devour the world. Balance good and bad cards, progress the ritual, and defend your tower from otherworldly beings while the countdown ticks. The twist is time itself. When the Old Ones close in, you can cast a spell of time reversal to wind the world back to the start of the ritual — but each casting costs more than the last. Every rewind also grants knowledge you can spend on new spells and ritual refinements, so the meta-layer is choosing which upgrades actually buy you another loop. Designed, coded, drawn, and scored by solo developer Jaco van Hemert, with sound effects from pixabay.com.

How to Play

Play cards in real time to advance the ritual while keeping your tower standing against encroaching monsters. Watch the countdown: when the Old Ones arrive, spend a time reversal to restart the ritual at a higher cost, then spend the knowledge you earned on spells and refinements that make the next loop stronger.

Controls

See the original itch.io page for the developer's control notes.

Tips & Tricks

Knowledge spent on new spells and ritual refinements is what improves your next loop — prioritize upgrades over short-term gains. Rewinding gets more expensive each time, so make every loop count before you spend one. Bad cards aren't dead weight; balancing them is the core tension of the ritual.
